I am a stay-at-home mother of a nine-year old boy. I had worked in the business world (telecommunications, management consulting, insurance, benefits consultancy) for twenty-two years when my son was born. I just didn’t want to head back to the business world as he grew older. So, I decided to ‘reinvent’ myself with a persona of what I really wanted to be when I was eighteen and heading off to college….a writer, singer, and actress. How can you possibly make a living that way, I was told.
Well, that was the Eighties when the only jobs available upon graduation were accountants, engineers, nurses, and teachers. It’s a new world now; and the rules have all changed – some of them.
Take a journey with me with my first book, Of Men and Monsters (author: E M Bahnsen). Can you relate to any of the characters or any of their life events?

  1. Just wanted to say first of all congratulations on the brave step to follow your dreams. Secondly, I wanted to thank you for your thought provoking comments on my most recent blog post. I appreciate the input.

  2. Hi Ellen, I am also sailing in the same boat as yours (homemaker after 20 yrs in the corporate world), albeit 10 years behind:)
Thanks for liking my message on Linkedin. I have been reading these many years, writing just happened like an Epiphany. Its great that you have finished a novel. I am just starting one.

    • Good luck with your novel. Don’t allow the ‘nay sayers’ to hold you back. And, most importantly, use those business skills to accomplish your book….you know, that daily task list where sometimes writing is the first TO DO or the last TO DO. Let me know when you are ready to publish. Keep in touch. Regards, Ellen
