I absolutely adored this book and couldn’t put it down.

You can keep your Christian Grey (FSOG) and your Gideon Cross (Bared To You etc) with their coarse verbalisations of lust for their objects of desire. Give me Remy Alden with his slow seduction of Amanda Greene. He believes from the outset that she is the one for him; his life partner and the future mother of his children, even though she is currently married to a boorish man.

This is more than a love story though. Where other stories finish with the heroine falling in love with the hero, this story is only half way through. We learn about the different facets of each person’s character and how this affects relationships between colleagues, friends, spouses, siblings, and of course lovers and exes. How can one person be selfish, miserly and lazy but still be a confidante in a crisis? How can another person be so kind, loving and generous but then be so mentally cruel that it makes your heart bleed? These are not cardboard cut-out characters, but well defined people with all their good and bad points. There were also some fascinating and surprising revelations which made this story extra special.

I am very rarely affected by the ‘sob story’ in most books I read and can be quite cynical but this book gripped me so that I was on a rollercoaster of emotions and, dare I say, very close to tears at some points. A well rounded and well written book. Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you, Cryspalitus (South Yorkshire) for your review.
